Mars Hill Cycling Camp Rules & Expectations


At Mars Hill Cycling Camp, our goal is to provide a safe, supportive, inclusive, and fun environment where campers can grow as cyclists and as people. Every camper is expected to contribute positively to the camp experience for fellow campers and staff.
 

Respect & Inclusion

  • Treat campers, staff, college personnel, and members of the public with kindness and respect.

  • Support and encourage riders of all ages, backgrounds, and ability levels.

  • Bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, exclusionary behavior, or inappropriate language will not be tolerated.
     

Safety

  • Follow all instructions from camp staff promptly and without argument, especially while riding, traveling in vehicles, or participating in camp activities.

  • Wear a properly fitted helmet whenever riding a bicycle.

  • Report injuries, mechanical issues, unsafe conditions, or concerns to staff immediately.

  • Safety always comes before fun, and fun comes before bikes.
     

Responsibility

  • Arrive on time and prepared for all camp activities.

  • Take responsibility for your equipment, dorm room, personal belongings, and shared spaces.

  • Maintain reasonable personal hygiene and wear clean cycling clothing whenever possible.

  • Stay adequately hydrated and fueled throughout camp.
     

Dormitory & Campus Expectations

  • Campers may not leave the dormitory, campus area, or group without staff permission and supervision.

  • Campers may not enter another camper's room without permission.

  • Male campers are not permitted in female dorm rooms, hallways, bathrooms, or designated living areas, and female campers are not permitted in male dorm rooms, hallways, bathrooms, or designated living areas. Campers must remain within their assigned dormitory areas unless directed otherwise by camp staff.

  • Quiet hours begin at 10:00 PM unless otherwise directed by staff.

  • Campers are expected to be awake and ready for scheduled morning activities.

  • Campers are expected to keep rooms, bathrooms, dorm common areas, and campus spaces clean and respectful.
     

Communication

  • If something is bothering you, speak with a coach or staff member. We are here to help.

  • Campers should communicate injuries, illness, concerns, conflicts, homesickness, or other issues as early as possible so we can provide support.

  • Campers are expected to voice needs respectfully and honestly so staff can help resolve problems before they become larger issues.
     

Consequences

Mars Hill Cycling Camp reserves the right to address inappropriate behavior in a manner deemed appropriate by camp staff.


Serious misconduct, bullying, harassment, unsafe behavior, repeated rule violations, refusal to follow staff instructions, possession of prohibited items, or behavior that significantly disrupts the camp experience may result in disciplinary action, removal from activities, or dismissal from camp.


In cases where a camper must be dismissed from camp due to behavioral issues or serious rule violations, parents/guardians will be responsible for arranging prompt pickup. No refund will be provided.
 

Parent/Guardian Acknowledgment

Parents/guardians are expected to review and discuss these Rules & Expectations with their camper before camp arrival.
